Hotel del Coronado

Hello Everyone, I hope you all had a lovely weekend! I wanted to say a quick hello and share a few more favorite memories from our recent stay at Hotel Del Coronado. As I have mentioned before, it’s been a long-time dream for Emil and I to stay at this hotel because we used to spend quite a bit of time in the area back when we were still dating and just in the process of planning our wedding, and since this year marked our ten-year wedding anniversary, being able to spend a few days here felt like it was very much meant to be!

Napa Travel Diary: Auberge du Soleil

At this point, it is no secret how much Emil and I love road trips, and going up the California coast to Carmel, San Francisco, and Napa Valley has to be one of our all-time favorite. Sometime a few weekends ago, we started talking about how impossibly hot Los Angeles weather has been, which led us to a realization that we have not visited Northern California in quite some time! We especially neglected Napa Valley, and we totally love that place. The weather is always cooler there, so when it’s blazing hot in Los Angeles, San Fran area is just perfect!

Our first stop was Napa Valley. We stayed at our absolute favorite – Auberge du Soleil on the east side of Napa Valley. Everything from the hotel grounds, to our room, to dining, and especially the pool area is absolutely incredible! This enormous property is located on slopes of a hill yielding to gorgeous views all around and from every angle. It’s so serene and beautiful, I loved just sitting down with a glass of wine and taking it all in. Peaceful and quiet, it makes you reconnect with nature and decompress from the insanely busy life that I happen to lead.

We started our first day there with a breakfast in bed. It’s become a bit of a tradition at this point, I guess something about starting your day with hot coffee, delicious croissants (which are my complete weakness), and fresh fruit, sets the mood for the rest of the day like nothing else. I love the vibe of Napa – it’s so relaxing, no one is rushing anywhere: just peace, quiet, and beautiful wineries all around! Basically a paradise in every way!

I have quite a few more posts coming sharing our experiences on this road trip, but Auberge du Soleil in Napa Valley was definitely one of the highlights. We can’t wait to go back!

Perfect at-home Care for Colored Hair

If you happen to read my blog on the regular, you may have noticed that my hair has undergone a transformation a few month ago: I said goodbye to my warm honey-brown main mane and hello to a much lighter, cooler shade, and… I couldn’t be happier! I feel like for the very first time in a long while I am once again excited about my color, and actually look forward to salon visits because I know that when I step out, my color will always look amazing!

Yet, and I am sure you will agree if you ever when went a few shades lighter, this lighter, cooler shade requires maintenance and regular/frequent salon visits, otherwise it can turn brassy in a drop of a pin. So, as much as I was willing to commit to frequent salon visits to maintain this color, my busy schedule and constant travel would often get in a the way, and by week 3, my color would start looking dull, lackluster and brassy.

Well as luck would have it, at a recent brunch with my Kérastase fam, I happened to bring up some of these concerns and they suggested I try the new Kérastase Reflection Chromatique line, which is designed specifically to revive color, neutralize unwanted tones, and add subtle deposits of color to prolong results between salon visits, and I absolutely LOVE IT! Aside from the fact that it makes my hair shiny and healthy, my color looks much more brilliant and vibrant for longer, in fact, I am actually able to go to my colorist less frequently, which works rather nicely, since we travel so much as of late.

Another reason I like using Reflection Chromatique line is because it is easy to use and does not require an extensive time commitment on my part. In fact, my current routine consists of 3 easy steps:

I start by washing my hair with Bain Chromatique Sulfate-Free, a multi-protecting shampoo, which cleanses hair gently to protect and help maintain color.

Next, I apply Fondant Chromatique, a conditioner designed specifically for color treated hair and keep it on for about five minutes. After washing it off and rinsing my hair with cold water to bring out the shine, I move on to step three.

Finally, and this is my favorite part because it always makes my hair look absolutely brilliant, once a week I complete my routine with the Touche Chromatique Cool Blonde Kit, a personalized color correcting care designed specifically for color-treated hair to refresh color, up the intensity, and prolong results between salon visits. Super easy to use, the kit contains 2 color-care products – Masque Chromatique and Touche Chromatique, which I mix in a bowl, apply to damp hair and keep on for about 5 minutes!

Why I love it? Well, as I have mentioned before, aside from the fact that it makes my color look fresh and new, it helps to neutralize and prevent unwanted brassy undertones, which I obviously love but also because my hair feels deeply nourished, very soft and shiny after! Basically, it makes my hair look exactly the way it does when I step out of the salon, so naturally I am completely and totally obsessed!

Wear Now & Later: Transitional Pieces I’m Buying Now

Though technically speaking, Summer is far away from being over, I find that lately, most of the pieces I’m adding to my closet are transitional ones. I suppose that’s just me being practical since I do like to get quite a bit of wear out of my favorites, and buying things I could only wear a few times makes little sense to me, but pieces I could wear once the weather gets a bit cooler, do!

Take today’s outfit for example, comprised entirely out of some of my newest favorites, most of what I’m wearing in today’s look will work just as well for Fall. Always on a lookout for great topers, I am completely obsessed with the floral bomber jacket I’m sporting in today’s look. Love the pretty color combination and the floral print, but also the fact that I can throw it over a denim mini or a cute sundress now, but also wear it with jeans, sneakers or boots come fall! Love that!

Sneakers have become a bit of a thing for me lately, especially sneakers with a bit of a twist or a special detail I am always looking for in shoes! These glitter babies from Marc Jacobs are my current pièce de résistance and go-to shoe of the moment. Though in the beginning of Summer I tend to opt for sandals more, as we get closer to fall, I definitely lean towards sneakers. They work just as well with some of my summer favorites, like denim separates, cute dresses and mini skirts, they also easily transition into fall paired with denim and jackets.

Last but certainly not least are bags. Though for the most part, fall calls for a slightly darker, moodier color palette, I like to inject a bit of life into my fall wardrobe with either brightly colored or pastel accessories. Take today’s pastel pink backpack I am sporting in today’s outfit, aside from the fact that mini backpack remain a huge trend for this fall, I love this particular shade of pink because it pairs so well with fall colors like navy, gray, burgundy and army green. And sure, it may not be a typical color choice for fall, yet nothing brightens my day when the weather gets dark and gloomy quite like wearing a pretty color, and pink is always my pretty color of choice!

What about you guys, what are some of the transitional pieces you’re buying at the moment?

Thank you Bloomingdale’s & ShopStyle for partnering with me on this post.

Napa Valley :: Favorite Winery

Though we’ve gone wine tasting in Napa several times, and visited more than a few charming wineries along the way, the one we love visiting the most is the Frog’s Leap Winery. We discovered it a few years ago, and since then, it’s become our favorite place to taste some delicious wine, get a quick bite, and simply wander around.

Aside from their wine selection, what we love about this particular winery the most, is how beautiful the grounds are and how relaxed the atmosphere is! Normally, we like coming here early in the afternoon and spending the day indulging in some wining, dining, or even simply exploring the gardens and the organic orchards.

What about you guys, have any of you gone wine tasting in Napa Valley before? If so, are there any particular wineries you would recommend?

Dry Skin Routine

$

I’ve always been pretty vocal about the fact that I am “blessed” with dry skin. It’s been this way for as long as I can remember, and through trial and error I found that the only way to deal with it is by taking care of it consistently.

Tough in the past, I’ve allowed my schedule to get the best of me and let my body-care routine slide, as of late, I’ve been pretty diligent about taking care of it because if I don’t, it gets particularly dry and flaky, especially around my knees and elbows. And that of course is not an option! So now, I always make sure to eat well, exercise ( I find that these 2 factors are really instrumental in terms of keeping my skin in it’s best possible state ), and use moisturizing products on daily basis: morning and night, no matter what!

Yet, even with consistent body-care routine, I find that come summer time, my skin definitely gets drier! In addition to that, I have been traveling a lot lately, and I don’t know what it is really, perhaps it is the jet leg which I tend to deal with by drinking a lot more coffee than I should, or the dry air on planes, or the constantly changing climates ( I’ve gone from below zero temperatures to high 90 and back to below zero within a span of one week ), or perhaps it is all of the above, but as of late, I’ve noticed that my skin has been getting itchy and flaky again.

Since my regular lotions and potions weren’t performing as well as they normally do, about 2 weeks ago I’ve made a switch to Jergens Wet Skin Moisturizer with Restoring Argan Oil and the results have been nothing short of amazing! Honestly, I can’t remember the last time I was this excited about a body-care product. First, I’ve gotten used to the notion that deeply moisturizing products should be and feel heavy, otherwise they don’t work, but Jergens Wet Skin Moisturizer feels very light and absorbs instantly, yet makes my skin feel soft all day long. Another thing that makes this moisturizer very different from anything I’ve tried before is the fact that you apply it on wet skin. It works by blending with water to lock in hydration, and glides right on wet skin, so getting ready takes me no time at all! Obviously I love that!

What difference have I noticed? Normally, my skin tends to get ever drier towards the end of the day, unless of course I re-apply my moisturizer, but with Jergens Wet Skin Moisturizer, I don’t need to do that, because it looks and feels just as soft and smooth as it does right after I apply the product. Another thing is obviously the softness, that dry, tight, and itchy feeling is completely gone and instead my skin feels very, very silky and smooth. Love, love, love that!

P.S. If you guys have any questions about the product or application tips, leave a comment below, I’ll be happy to answer!

Birthday Girl

Happy almost weekend Everyone! I wanted to take this opportunity to thank you all for the wonderful birthday wishes! Words cannot describe what joy I feel reading your emails!!! Thank you so much for being so sweet and supportive. Your kind words mean the world to me. This is actually the 6th birthday we celebrate together and your sweet wishes never fail to make this day even more special for me!

Though what we do on my birthday changes from year to year, sometimes it’s a fun family getaway, sometimes it’s dinner at home or at one of our favorite restaurants ( this year we went to Catch on Melrose because we just can’t get enough of the beautiful decor and amazingly delicious food ), what remains constant is the fact that we always celebrate my b-day together as a family, and this year was no exception of course! I haven’t had as much family time these past few months as I normally do ( we’ve been traveling pretty much non-stop all summer long ), so I can’t tell you how nice it felt to have the old gang back :)!

I kept going back and forth on what to wear, but finally decided to go all out and dress up a bit. I generally love Needle and Thread dresses, but this one was especially beautiful—I love the see-through short sleeves and layered skirt. I paired the dress with simple nude sandals and a blush-toned bag to keep the focus on the dress. It was a perfect dress to wear for an evening out with my family, and I’m definitely looking for another excuse to wear this dress out again soon!

Napa Travel Diary: Sunset Picnic

Today, I wanted to share yet another post from Napa Valley. This last trip to Napa was probably one of our favorite trips up there of all time. We truly got to relax, taste delicious wine, eat some good food, and capture beautiful photos of it all along the way. I’m not going to lie, it’s not always easy for me to unwind, but this time around, we really made an effort to take things slow, enjoy life’s little moments, and take a breath before the craziness of Fashion Month.

This was our last day in Napa Valley, so we wanted to make sure to visit as many of our favorite places as we possibly could, as well as find new spots. It’s sort of our tradition when traveling, to take notes and jot down the names of places we want to come back to next time we’re in town. Having fresh, new destinations in mind that we want to visit/see/explore, always makes planning a trip just a bit more exciting for us.

You may have noticed that I’ve been on a bit of a Zimmermann kick as of late, and though I’ve always been big fan of this brand, this year in particular, Zimmermann became my go-to label for travel wardrobe ( last seen here, here & here ). It wasn’t necessarily planned, I simply kept finding more and more amazing pieces to love.

More than anything else, I think the reason why I keep coming back to this brand again and again is the combination of style and comfort, and of course today’s little lace playsuit is no exception. Love the cut and the detailing of course, but I really appreciated how comfortable it felt on, which made it just the perfect thing to wear for a day of walking around and exploring! Love that!

Napa Travel Diary: Carneros Inn & Spa

Hi Everyone! Excited to share my final post from our road trip to Napa. I’m writing this post from my NYC hotel room, or as I like to call it, home away from home for the duration of New York fashion week, and thinking about the crazy busy week ahead of me, makes me want to go on yet another relaxing adventure once I’m back in California. So, definitely planning another trip to Napa really soon!

We shot this post at one of our favorite places in Napa – the Carneros Inn & Spa. Definitely one of our favorite places to stay whenever we’re in town, we simply can’t get enough of the charming rustic feel of the place, the beautiful grounds, relaxing atmosphere and great selection of wines, of course! Another reason we keep coming back again and again is the food scene. Our favorite thing to do there as soon as we get in is paying a visit to the Boon Fly Cafe! Their flat breads and donuts are to die for! Both Emil and I seriously recommend them!

Besides the delicious food, I’m obsessed with Carneros Inn’s grounds—the views are just so gorgeous, especially from the pool deck. Walking or biking (hotel offers bikes to its guests) around the property and taking in all of its beauty is one of my favorite things to do there.

Keeping up with what Napa is all about (i.e. wine), Emil and I grabbed a bottle from the market and enjoyed a glass or two while watching the sun set over the rolling heels. We truly appreciate moments of peace and quiet like this as we normally lead a pretty busy life. And speaking of busy, I have one of the busiest weeks ahead of me—NYFW. So excited to take it on and share the journey along with you guys. So, for now, I have to say goodbye to Napa and hello to NYC!

Not So Basic Basics

Yet another one of those looks inspired by my current obsession with not so basic basics. Currently, I am on a high-waisted cropped raw-edge jeans high, because, well… because they pair beautifully with just about any top style imaginable, and can be dressed up with something like a crop top and blazer, or down with a cute tucked-in lose-fitting tee.

In fact, I am so addicted to this particular jean style at the moment, I’ve been buying them in every color imaginable, but the black pair I am sporting in today’s post is definitely my favorite by far. I wore this look to a casual dinner with friends just before I headed to New York Fashion Week. We went to a cute vegan cafe in downtown Los Angeles, so naturally I opted to wear my favorite basics but dressed them up with a few favorite accessories.

First and foremost a pair of red pumps is always at the top of my must-have list. You know me, I love a statement shoe, and I especially enjoy the way a great pair of red heels adds just a touch of color to black and white looks. Normally, I opt for a single red accessory to make it the focal point of the look. Finishing touch – the beret of course! An absolute must-have this year, I think I fell in love with berets when I saw them floating down a runway at Paris Fashion Week, paired with just about everything from evening gowns to everyday looks. Personally, I love the way berets add just a touch of chic sophistication to a look, but also transform even the simplest of outfits into something well thought-out and pulled together! Naturally, I am OBSESSED!

NYFW Day 1: Lace Love

Good morning Everyone! I wanted to say a quick hello and share a few images of raddest ruffle Chloé number I wore at NYFW Day 1. Always a fan of anything Chloé and a good flowy dress, this one in particular struck a cord with me the moment I saw it! I have a soft spot for dresses that move in general ( so fun to wear ) this beautiful embroidered lace number has that dream-like vibe that makes it an absolute show-stopper, a quality I always strive for when styling my Fashion Week outfits.

Though this dress certainly could be worn in a multitude of ways, from casual, paired with flat gladiator sandals and a straw bag, to dressy, if combined with strappy heels and a cute clutch, this time around, I wanted to toughen up the look by adding a few leather accessories. First, I opted for a leather beret from Gucci, which incidentally became my constant Fashion Week companion because it pretty much guaranteed a good hair day, secondly I added a wide leather belt to accentuate the waist. Finishing touches – my new Dior pumps ( or as I like to call them my new wear with absolutely everything shoe ) and the newest bag from Fendi, the Runway tote in black and white.

NYFW: Pinstripe Pairing

$

0

A few days before I left for New York, I was having breakfast with a friend talking about what it is exactly that I like about being in the Fashion industry, when it occurred to me that we are living in a very special moment in time because today, more than ever, we have the freedom to express who we are and what we like through our style. If you think about, liberty to dress the way we like is a relatively new concept, because in the past, what we wear, with what, and when, was pretty much dictated to us. But not today! Today, we get to choose how we want to look, what pieces to wear together and just in general, create a personal style that has no limitations and that is uniquely our own, and I think this is the main reason why I am so excited to be a part of the Fashion industry today and why I enjoy attending New York Fashion Week so much. Because truly, Fashion Week today is not just about the Fashion Shows but also just as much about street style, and being able to see interpretations of what is happening in the world of Fashion through the eyes of influencers from all over the world! And that to me, that is truly amazing!

Take today’s look for example. In that past, pairing tailored pants, like the high-waisted pinstripe ones I am wearing in today’s post, with a t-shirt would have been unthinkable, but today, I have the freedom to combine casual pieces with dressy ones at will, and high-waisted, wide-legged pant and a casual tee pairing feels very of the moment right now. Pulled together, yet not entirely serious, I love the way a simple tee dresses down tailored pants and makes them a lot more anywhere appropriate. And I mean anywhere, because I wore this particular look to the shows, business meetings, presentations, brunch with friends and everything in between!

What I love about this particular pair from Express, is the subtle stripe and the floor length, which work in conjunction to elongate silhouette and make one look at least 6 feet tall. A ok in my book on both of those! Another reason is the fact that they contain just the right amount of stretch to maintain their shape throughout the day but also keep them wrinkle free from morning to night, and if you’ve ever dealt with dress pants that wrinkle easily you know what a nightmare it is! These, on the other hand looked crisp and polished at dinner, so they passed a day full of shows and endless car rides test with flying colors! For today’s look, I paired them with yet another Express favorite, i.e. a super soft and comfy tee ( love this particular style so much I bought it in every color – No Regrets! ) to add just a touch of casual appeal to the look. Finishing touches – a few layered necklaces, a leather beret, and my obsession du jour, clear aviator sunglasses. I’ve been looking for just the right pair for months now, when I happen to come across them at Express. Love everything about them, from shape and size, to super clear lenses! So cool paired with just about everything from casual looks, to more dressy ones for a touch of edge and cool! Love That!

Special thank you to Express for partnering with me on this post.

NYFW Day 2: Dark Florals

If you follow me on the regular, you probably know that print, especially bold print, is not usually part of my sartorial vocabulary. Yet this season, I simply cannot help but fall in love with the dark florals. Much more sophisticated and elegant, I absolutely love the way a dark background adds a bit of edge to this otherwise very feminine print.

Take today’s Sachin & Babi dress I wore to their SS18 show during New York Fashion Week for example, dark and romantic, I absolutely adore how the dark print adds touch of glamour and edge to this otherwise very feminine number. To continue with the theme, I opted for a leather beret. I did I think mention that the beret and I were literally inseparable for the entire duration of NYFW because aside from the fact that it is one of the trendiest accessories this season and I love the way it pairs with practically everything, it kept my hair in check in windy New York, which was a welcome change indeed.

If you read my blog on the regular, you probably already know that I firmly believe that accessories make an outfit. In fact, I often style my outfits around them: I start with a bag, a pair of shoes or sunglasses and then decide on items of clothing I’d like to pair them with. Not sure why this is, really, but it’s always been like that for me. As much as I love clothing, I can never get excited about it the way I do about a pair of fabulous heels or shades. Today’s look is no exception of course.

Finding just the right pair of white shades has been my main mission as of late. Chic and versatile, white shades bring a bit of glam and polish to pretty much any look, not to mention the fact that they pair beautifully with a variety of colors. Love that! I found these cat-eye babies from Vogue Eyewear on a recent trip to SunglassHut and fell in love the moment I saw them. Aside from the fact that I’ve always had a soft spot for cat-eye sunglasses, what I particularly love about these is the slightly retro shape and of course the blue lenses.

For today’s look I paired them with a pretty floral number via Enze Apparel I wore to a brunch with friends recently, but I’ve also teamed them up with some of my more polished ensembles ( blazers and jeans are still my go-to pairing for any work related function ), and even little cocktail dresses and so far, they haven’t failed me once! Basically, at the moment, they are my favorite pair to wear everywhere and with everything, so I have a feeling you’ll be seeing quite a it of them in the near future! Hope you don’t mind!

Special thank you to SunglassHut and ShopStyle for sponsoring this post.

Intimates Essentials

Cleaning my undies drawer in preparation for the new season got me thinking that come Fall/Winter, I tend to stock up on a few very particular intimates. My essentials, as I like to call them, are the kind of undergarment styles that tend to combine both function and comfort, basically the kind of bras that can be worn with pretty much any top or dress imaginable, or comfy underwear styles that work equally well skinny jeans and slinky skirts. As I was making a mental list of some of these essentials I needed to update for the next season, I thought that it may be kinda fun to do a special post about them. I’ve never done one of these before, but I do feel that it’s long overdue since in my opinion the right undergarments are the foundation of any outfit, and most of the time make the world of difference in terms of how well your clothes fit. So, without further ado, here are my absolute musts!

The Wireless Bra – love it because of how comfortable it is, this sculpted wireless triangle bra from Calvin Klein is a favorite by far. Aside from being so comfortable to wear it feels like you’re wearing nothing at all, it’s so smooth, it’s practically invisible under any tight top or dress.

The Invisible Thong – practically undetectable under even the tightest bottom styles, I tend to stock up on the ones from Calvin Klein the most. Soft, comfortable and virtually invisible under just about anything from skin-tight jeans, to slip dresses and silky skirts. Basically go-to undies style for any occasion!

Shaping Slip – this is literally a life savior, and a perfect piece to go under dresses for that extra level of security. I wear quite a bit of white and lace dresses, which often times can be a bit too see-through for my taste, but having a slip handy easily solves that problem. Normally, I tend to go for body-hugging styles since they work equally well under form-fitting pieces and flowy ones, fit like second skin, and are completely undetectable under clothing.
Half Slip – since shaping slip doesn’t always work with skirts (in case I’m wearing a skirt with a crop top for example), I lot of times, half slip is what I opt for when I wear skirts. A great layering piece, normally, I look  for ones that have a slit in the back so I don’t feel constrained when walking around as I’ve struggled in the past with slips that were simply impossible to move around in.
Seamless Convertible Cami – I love to wear these camis under blouses. Because they are completely seamless, they do not show even under the thinnest, silkiest blouses I tend to wear so much. Another purpose – they are a great layering piece when it gets a bit colder. Soft and comfy, they feel like you’re wearing nothing at all, yet they definitely help add that extra layer during colder months of the year.
Special thank you to Bloomingdale’s and ShopStyle for partnering with me on this post.

3 Reasons Why Everyone Should Wear a Beret this Season

$
0
0

Not much of a hat person, I never thought I’d be so on board with berets until I wore one, and now, I can honestly say that it is quickly becoming one of my favorite accessory trends this season. Why? Well, there are many reasons really, the no-bad-hair-days thing was certainly an unexpected perk during NYFW, which was one of the reasons why I wore one on daily basis. But also, berets feel fresh and new at the moment, they add that element of chic to pretty much every look imaginable and lastly, berets are a perfect way to add that trendy touch to any of your favorite go-to classic looks like jeans and blazers combo for example.

More reasons to love berets this season:

A beret elevates your look – as I mentioned above, I wore my beret quite a bit during NYFW and with a variety of outfits. No matter the outfit I was wearing though, the beret elevated the look, made it more fashionable, and brought a certain Parisian chic that I have been longing for more and more in anticipation of Paris Fashion Week.

A beret works with virtually any outfit – I have worn mine with just about everything from jeans and t-shirts, to evening dresses and everything in between. I am not sure I have ever had such a versatile accessory in my closet, and you guys know just how much I love versatility in pieces. Another reason why berets are so versatile is because you can wear it in many different ways. I normally wear my hair down and love the way a beret looks like that, but it’s just as fun with a side braid slanted on the side or paired with a low pony tail.

Wearing a beret is a way to inject color/texture into your looks – for example, I like to add a bit of color to my black and white outfits by opting for a colorful beret. A bright red beret, paired with back and white outfits is definitely one of my go-to looks at the moment. I also love pairing leather berets with some of my more girly pieces like flowy dresses for example, to make them just a tad more edgy and trendy.

Fall Florals

Yet another one of my outfits, which happens to combine some of my favorite Fall trends this season. We shot this look during NYFW, and I have to say that this one, was probably one of my personal favorites!

Aside from the fact that I simply cannot say enough about the gorgeous Magda Butrym dress I am wearing in this post: perfect fall floral print that is just perfectly moody, incredibly flowy shape and ideal asymmetry, what I am really loving at the moment, is the midi dress with high boots combination. Thigh-high or knee-tall, uber skinny or not so much, as long as they are paired with midi-length dress, I am loving them all! But I am particularly partial to the boots I’m wearing here; I got them last year, and they were in heavy rotation all season. Why? Well, because they look good with everything, and sure, the dress I am wearing in this post would look lovely with a pair of black pumps, but something about a thigh-high boot really ties the look together and adds just the right touch of edge and drama to the look! Love that!

If you read my blog on the regular, you probably already know that I am a shoe addict through and through. Don’t really know what it is really, but I am completely and utterly obsessed, and finding a great pair of shoes always makes my day unlike anything else. Well…, enter my latest obsession du jour: Saint Laurent Niki velvet thigh-high boots, or as I like to call them, the outfit-makers!

Love at first sight, I knew we very meant to be together the moment I saw them. I mean… velvet, thigh-high, cone heel, and pointed toe, basically the most perfect pair of boots ever imagined! I tried, and I mean I really did try to find a look that these boots don’t elevate and make a bit more interesting/fashiony/dramatic and any other wonderful thing you can imagine, and so far nothing! From mini skirts and blazer combos, to skinny jeans and slouchy sweater situations, these boots cannot do wrong! And I am totally on board with that, which is perhaps why I expect them to make countless appearances on this site! Hope you don’t mind!

I don’t have favorite brands! No, really! I have favorite collections, and there are certainly brands and labels I turn to on regular basis, but for the most part, what I like or love varies from season to season. Well…, that is with one major exception – CHANEL. Never not a favorite, every Chanel piece that I have in my closet is love at first sight and a friend for life, and I can honestly say that when I think of Chanel, I can’t really imagine a collection I didn’t like or an item I wouldn’t want to add to my closet.

I’ve often wondered what it is about Chanel that I love so much and I believe that it is the combination of craftsmanship, quality and effortlessness that make this particular brand a constant favorite. Effortlessly chic, effortlessly cool, effortlessly elegant and modern, Chanel feels different on and wears differently. If you read my blog on the regular you may already know that when it comes to clothes, fit and comfort are important to me. I never want to wear anything I don’t feel good in or something that doesn’t make me feel good about the way that I look and Chanel always delivers in both departments.

Take the coat I am wearing in today’s post for example, lightweight yet warm, it feels as comfortable as a fuzzy blanket yet it is as chic and elegant as a coat can be. Another quality I always appreciate about Chanel pieces is their ability to make a statement without being loud or over the top. I mean, I could wear this coat in a thousand different ways and to thousand different occasions yet it will never fail to be an elegant show-stopper that it is in the most sophisticated and effortless manner. Love that!
