#NYFW: TIPS & MUST-DOS

To say that I love NYFW is to say nothing at all! But this year, what is particularly exciting is the fact that I get to partner with Express, one of my all-time favorites, to serve as their New York Fashion Correspondent! YAY! As part of this collaboration I wanted to share my #NYFW must-do list, survival tips and of course recommend a few favorite NY spots to visit!

BTW: I am super excited to take over EXPRESS Instagram & Snapchat today, Monday September 14th, so be sure to follow my adventures!

#NYFW TIPS:

Though a 3-hour difference between LA and New York doesn't seem like much, in reality, this seemingly insignificant time difference takes a toll. Trust me, when you get up at 7am New York time ( 4am LA time) you really feel it!:) In the past, I've dealt with this little issue by gulping down insane amounts of coffee, which of course was a totally wrong move to make! Rather than making me feel brighter-eyed and bushy-tailed, the coffee made me dehydrated, jittery, tired and sluggish! So now, I have a small expresso in the morning, a herbal tea with lemon in the afternoon, and keep rehydrating by drinking lemon water throughout the day! So far, this seems to be the winning combination, which not only helps to keep my energy level up but also does wonders for my skin!

Another great way to combat fatigue and keep your energy level up is exercise! A quick jog or even a  walk in Central Park works like magic to help you bounce back after a long day full of events and shows! I know, I know, seems completely counterintuitive! I mean, where does one find the energy energy to exercise when it feels like a nice comfy bed in your hotel room is your best friend in the whole wide world, and yet exercise does the body good, because you feel completely rejuvenated and revived after!

Last but definitely not least is NYFW outfits! Though perhaps comfort is not the first word that comes to mind when thinking about NYFW outfits. For me, it's actually one of the most important considerations! Now, I am not talking about sweatpants level of comfort here, but considering that you spend 8-10 hours on your feet, running around like a crazy person, being able to move, breeze and walk seems kinda crucial!:) So, when styling outfits for fashion week, I consider style and comfort in equal parts. Take today's look for example, I love the idea of pairing very dressy pieces with more casual ones. And so, rather than wearing my floral-print neck-tie blouse with a dressier bottom, I opted for a pair of my beloved mid-rise Express jeans. Stylish and comfortable, I love the way these jeans move with the body and retain their shape throughout the day so that I never have to worry about saggy knees and other places which will remain nameless:) Since, it was a bit chilly on that day, I added a beautiful moto leather jacket, also from Express, with lace-up detailing. As I have mentioned before, I am downright obsessed with special details, and the lace up sleeves and back make this one a complete and total statement piece!

MUST-DOS & RECCOMENDAIONS:

If I had to describe NYFW in a single word, "fast" is one of the first things that comes to mind! Everything moves at incredible speeds, and a week flies by in an instant! And yet, no matter how busy I get, I always make sure to find the time to explore all the wonderful things New York has to offer! Whether it's seeing a show on Broadway, catching a ride on the ferry from Manhattan to Williamsburg to see the magical views on New York city ( a must-do in my opinion), or doing a bit of shopping in SoHo, no trip to New York feels complete without finding something new and exciting to do in this magical city!

Of course, as much as I love discovering new things to do in New York, hitting a few of my all-time favorites is of equal importance:) You know what a huge foodie I am, so naturally whenever I visit New York dining out is simply a must. One of my favorite places to go is Catch NYC. While they offer a really great selection of seafood dishes ( lobster rolls being right at the very top of my must-have list ) what I am really addicted to is their desert selection! One word! Amazing! Seriously, probably the yummiest deserts I've had in my entire life:)! Last time we were in New York, we ended up in Catch 3 nights in a row! Now if that doesn't say obsessed, I really don't know what does!:)

Though I am certainly a little sad that summer is over, there are a few things getting me extremely excited about fall/winter season! For starters, I am very honored to partner with REDValentino, one of my favorite brands of all time, to celebrate the launch and debut of REDLife, their cool new online eMag! As part of our collaboration, I got to choose and style a few favorite pieces from their latest collection to show you guys how I like to mix different prints and patterns and dress down some of the fancier pieces for daytime.

If you read my blog on regular basis, you know how obsessed I am with special details and bright colors, and the latest REDValentino collection had both in abundance and more. Fun, flirty dresses, beautiful prints and rich colors, are just some of the reasons I fell in love with the fall/winter collection. And so, as you can imagine, choosing favorites was not an easy task indeed. I mean, how do you choose a favorite if you happen to love it all?:) After some consideration, I went with a gorgeous striped tulle/point d’esprit circus embroidered dress, embellished sweatshirt, sparkly tulle skirt and platform sandals. Reason why I went with these particular pieces is that aside from being absolutely beautiful, they are also versatile and can be mixed and matched, worn together or separately and of course can be dressed up or down depending on occasion.

Take the tulle/point d’esprit circus embroidered dress for example, though it is certainly a stunning cocktail dress, it works just as well for daytime paired together with some edgy shades and chunky platforms. Of course if you're feeling particularly adventurous, which I personally always do, you can also layer with a cute sweatshirt to play down the sparkle a bit. I went with REDValentino embellished sweatshirt in circus print. Though I am pairing two different prints, reason why this combination works is because the base colors compliment each other and pops of red, black and soft sage, found in both prints, tie them together to help ground this look.

I took a similar approach with my second look. The stunning sequin skirt is a dressy staple for me, perfect for dinner or cocktails. But I wanted to make it a bit more daytime appropriate, so I paired it with an oversized embellished sweatshirt, chunky heels and mirrored sunnies. The rule I generally follow when I mix two different patterns like print and sequin, is pairing colors, not patterns. The combination of deep and soft gray works beautifully together, and print paired with sequin creates a very rich, textured look that is both fun and flirty.

What about you guys, how do you feel about mixing different prints and patterns?

#NYFW FUN WITH PANDORA AT NANETTE LEPORE SPRING 16 PRESENTATION

If you read my blog on a regular basis you know what a huge PANDORA Jewelry & Nanette Lepore fan I truly am! Well, as luck would have it, I got a chance to partner with PANDORA for NYFW to style a few favorite pieces from their Autumn collection and also attend Nanette Lepore's SS16 presentation!

This season Nanette Lepore's collection was laid-back, carefree, and just plain fun featuring some beautiful off-the-shoulder numbers, black eyelet and fun prints. The looks were accessorized with stacked PANDORA rings, which served as perfect finishing touches to these playful looks!

I chose a beautiful little cape number from Nanette Lepore to wear to the event. Aside from my general fondness for little black dresses, what attracted me to this particular piece, was the cut, the long dramatic bell sleeves and embellished keyhole neckline. In short, I liked pretty much everything about it!:) I accessorized the look with layered sterling silver PANDORA bracelets and rings to create a very dramatic arm party. The best thing about PANDORA is that I'm able to showcase my unique, individual style. I said it before and I'll say it again, when it comes to jewelry, I strongly believe that more is more... And of course this look is no exception!:) In my mind, little black dresses and heavily-layered jewels are basically a match made in fashion heaven. Something about the classic elegance of black paired with an embellished wrist helps to create a rather dramatic look! And of course you know me, when it comes to fashion, a little drama is a must!:)

BEST TRENDS FROM SPRING 16 NYFW TO WEAR NOW

New York fashion week has come and gone, and if I were to sum up what we've seen on the runways, the word exciting is one of the first ones that comes to mind. Though Spring 2016 runways offered a variety of trends and ideas, what struck a particular cord with me were the continues references to my beloved 70s. And so, I would like to take this opportunity to talk a little bit about a few of my favorite trends and how you can incorporate them in your wardrobe right now.

Crochet! Sure, crochet may not be the first thing that comes to mind when you think about your fall wardrobe. And yet given that 70s continue to rule the runways, crochet definitely feels right paired with flared jeans, a-line skirts and suede. One of the ways you can introduce this trend into your fall wardrobe is by pairing a crochet detailed blouse with a 70s inspired bottom, such as wide-legged pant or a button-front skirt for example.

Wide leg! Universally flattering, easy to wear and just plain cool looking, wide-legged pants and jeans are definitely my favorite silhouette right now! Making an appearance on every runway, ranging from tailored flares to boxier looking uber wide-legged pants, there is definitely a pair out there for everyone. Personally, I am more than a little obsessed with the high-waisted flared denim versions. For today's look, I paired my flared jeans with a tie-neck blouse and a fringed bag but of course when it comes to flare jeans the possibilities are endless. As we move in to fall, they pair wonderfully with trench coats and leather jackets or tweed blazers and smart pullovers layered over collared shirts!

Fringe! One word, OBSESSED! I love fringe because it adds such a great texture to a look! Though there are certainly many ways you can incorporate this trend into your wardrobe, I am a bit partial to fringed accessories! A nice fringed shoe or bag gives a cool-boho vibe to anything you wear this fall and adds a touch of drama to a simplest of looks! And of course you know how much I love that!

Maxi dresses! Though typically I reserve the great lengths for night, this season I am definitely loving the idea of wearing maxi dresses for day. There is a certain relaxed, easy-going boho vide about them, yet somehow when you wear one, you still manage to like quite pulled together. As we progress into fall they look especially relevant paired with leather or denim jackets, of course if you're feeling particularly adventurous, try pairing one with a belted trench coat for that oh-so-fashion-forward tiered look.

THE ALLLEGS

There are many reasons to love fall, but for a shoeaholic like me, fall signals the beginning of that magical time of the year when one gets to go boot shopping again! I mean, you know how I get about footwear in general, but boots are on another level. Honestly, if I could, I'd probably wear boots year-round, all day, every day and with everything!

My first score of the season? These gorgeous ALLLEGS boots from Stuart Weitzman! Since over-the-knee boots happen to be a particular obsession of mine ( Hello, Stuart Weitzman HIGHLAND boots I wore to death last year ), I just couldn't resist adding another pair to my collection. Not only do I adore the color since it works so well with muted greens, camels, creams and lighter denim, the height of the boot makes the style even sexier, striking and more dramatic. These boots are the perfect accessory to fall suede skirts and high waisted denim!

I've only had these boots for a few days, I've already been wearing them non-stop. In fact, I'm so obsessed, I decided to get the same pair in black! Of course, this means that you'll be seeing more of these boots on this blog, so I hope you enjoy!

PALE PINK

Can't tell you how happy I am fall is finally here! Don't get me wrong, I love summer but lately I'm feeling a bit over the heat, humidity and blazing sun and long for cooler temperatures. Of course another reason why I'm excited is because I finally get to take some of my new fall favorites out for a walk!:)

This year, aside from being completely and utterly obsessed with boots, I've developed quite a substantial addiction to sweater dresses. Warm and comfy, love the way they pair with over-the-knee or ankle boots, can be layered with jeans or leather pants or worn on their own. In essence, a good sweater dress is perfectly versatile, and of course you know how I feel about that!

The pretty pale pink number from Via Delle Perle I'm sporting in today's post is one of my favorites at the moment. Aside from my general obsession with this particular shade of pink, love how flowy and comfy it is! And of course that delicate lace trim is just icing on the cake. You know me, I love details! And that lace trim adds a certain touch of girliness and femininity which I enjoy so much!

What about you guys, how do you feel about sweater dresses?

So, I have some really exciting news! I've partnered with Vestiaire Collective, a website where you can buy and sell luxury pre-owned fashion, featuring brands like Saint Laurent, Celine, Chanel and Givenchy, to sell a few items from my closet! I've already added 3 designer bags ( Saint Laurent, Alexander McQueen& Proenza Schouler ) to my seller's account, so CLICK HERE to check them out!

Today's look is really a combination of all my favorite designers at the moment. Love these Saint Laurent booties! Aside from being obsessed with ankle boots in general, I really can't resist a really good studded option ( the most amazing version from Laurence Dacede here and Isabel Marant here ). For this look, I pared them with a beautiful REDValentino dress ( also dying over this Givenchy version ) to create a rather stark hard & soft contrast. Sure, I could have worn the dress with a pair of really cute strappy sandals, but I think the boots add a nice edgy touch and make this outfit a bit more day-time appropriate. To complete the look, I added a studded Saint Laurent bag ( really cute studded Sonia Rykiel option here ) because A: can you really ever have enough studded pieces in your outfit? and B: because I do love to pair fringe and tulle!

BTW, I'll be adding more goodies to my sellers account in the nearest future, so stay tuned:)And if you're thinking about selling some of your designer goodies, Vestiaire Collective is a great place to do both, tap luxe brands for less and make some extra $$$ to fund your next purchase:)

I HEART RADIO WITH GARNIER

If you follow me on Instagram, you may have noticed that recently I had a chance to hang out with Garnier in Las Vegas, attend an I Heart Radio music festival and get my hair done by Tommy Bucket, aka an amazing Garner hair stylist and my new best friend!

We arrived to Vegas on Friday or rather exactly the day after I came back from New York, which made packing very simple!:) I pack fast, the only thing that takes time is packing my beauty products. I don't know why, but for some reason I am terrified of being away from my army of little helpers. Seriously, I religiously take things with me that I normally use once a year ( if that ) yet I cannot bare to be away from them when I travel! And so, like a crazy person I check and re-check to make sure I have everything with me. And for some reason the re-checking portion takes time ...  :)

Though we haven't been to Vegas for about a year now, we arrived to find things haven't changed much! Lively, sparkly and just plain fun! Vegas has a certain infectious energy you cannot help but pick up on! First stop on our Vegas agenda? Meeting with Tommy Buckett and the Garner team for my hair styling session. As we were discussing the hair style we wanted to create, we decided to draw a bit of inspiration from the Self Portrait jumpsuit I was sporting that day and go for something polished, sophisticated yet slightly undone for a really modern look. In case you'd like to re-create this look, here is a step-by-step instruction on how to achieve it:

1. Spritz Sleek Primer on damp hair & blow dry
2. Create soft, undone waves with a curling iron or a flat iron
3. Spray mid-shaft to ends with Deconstructed Texture tease
4. Pin hair back above the ear on one side with your favorite sparkly clip
5. Finish the look with a coat of Anti-Himidity Hairspray to secure the style

And voila! All done, pretty simple, huh?

After my styling session we headed to Sage, or as I like to call it my new favorite restaurant at Aria. Though every single dish we ordered was absolutely delicious, if you happen to find yourself there, the cheesecake is definitely worth trying! One word! AMAZING! :)

We got up bright and early next day and headed straight to I Heart Radio festival! Now, I don't know about you guys, but I am borderline obsessed with Hozier! I play "Take Me To Church" on repeat and   still can't quite get enough of this song! So, suffice to say seeing him perform live was a treat beyond anything I could have imagined!!! So good, I still get goosebumps when I think about it!:)

P.S. If you guys have any questions about my hair style or products used, shoot me an email, I'll be happy to answer!

Guess I've developed a new color crush... Something about this olive green, especially combined with cream and black, has me completely hooked at the moment! I would even go as far as to say that this is my new favorite fall color combo! And sure, it's still warm in LA ( and by warm I mean hot... really, really hot! ), so breaking out any warmer pieces is out of the question! But I try to introduce some fall elements into my wardrobe, and color seems to be the only option at the moment:)!

Back home in LA now and having trouble comprehending the notion that just yesterday morning I was strolling down Champs-Elysees... Didn't think I would miss Paris so much and so quickly, and yet I've been home for less than 24 hours and already find myself planning the next visit! Ah, what I wouldn't give for a cup of coffee and a croissant from my favorite Cafe de Flore right about now!:) Oh, and whilst we are on a subject of favorite things from Paris, you know I have more than a mild obsession with accessories in general, but these CHLOE boots and bag are just on another level! Can we just take a moment to acknowledge how absolutely out of this world amazing they are! Aside from the fact that they pair beautifully with any 70s inspired pieces ( a particular obsession of mine at the moment ) they manage to elevate even the simplest of looks to a whole new level and add that dramatic element I always look for in accessories. And of course you know me, I like a bit of drama when it comes to outfits!:)

Of all the outwear trends coming in for fall 2015, capes are definitely my favorite! Cozy and comfortable, yet oh-so-very chic and pulled together! This particular patchwork one from Chloe I wore during Paris Fashion Week is my current obsession! Love the statement-making retro color combination and the asymmetric hem which tends to drape in the most beautiful of ways! But as is with most pieces I tend to obsess about, what I adore about it the most is versatility! Obviously a bit partial to the way it pairs with floor-length flare jeans, I find that it looks equally stunning worn with a black turtleneck, skinny jeans and ankle boots or over-the-knee boots. In any case, the possibilities of wearing it are essentially endless and of course knowing me, you know how much I love that!

I first wore this L'Agence maxi number to Harper's Bazaar Icons event in New York this year and became so obsessed with it, I've been wearing it non-stop ever since! So good with strappy sandals and a little black clutch, yet equally relevant with gladiator flats and a cross-body bag for a slightly more relaxed day-time look. Aside from versatility, what I love about it the most, is the semi-sheer, sexy fabric and of course the cut! You know me, I have a soft spot for dresses that move and this one definitely does, in the most graceful of ways! With every step you take, it comes to life floating and dancing around you like a cloud... Naturally, whenever I put it on twirling around is pretty much a must!

Good morning, everyone! Hope you're all enjoying your weekend! I wanted to say a quick hello and share a few images of the raddest ruffled number I wore to Paul & Joe's Spring 16 show during Paris Fashion Week. As far as red dressed go, this is probably one of my favorite ones ever! Love the light-as-air fabric, the ruffles, the moment and a slight retro vibe! In short, completely and totally obsessed with everything about it! But considering what a perfect combination of everything I've just listed above it really is, can you really blame me?:)

Ah, LA weather... I swear, it's the most unpredictable thing ever! I remember freezing in Malibu mid August a few years ago and tanning in November the following year! By now, I've accepted the fact that you have to expect the unexpected and even though it felt like I'd be spending the entire winter wearing denim cut-offs and flip flops last week, this week, it seems like the sweater weather is finally upon us! YAY!

Naturally, I am taking full advantage of the cooler temperatures by breaking out a few of my new fall favorites! Right now, it's all about capes and cover ups for me! There is something so incredibly cozy about them, yet still very chic and dressed up! And of course you know how much I love that! I am also digging a simpler almost monochromatic color palette these days, opting for just a single pop of color or print. Today's hero piece is of course this gorgeous southwestern blanket coverup! Because it's such a statement piece I decided to pair it with simple black separates, i.e. a black turtleneck sweater and scuba legging. I also love adding a pop of silver to my black and white looks, so I opted for a pair of mirrored sunnies, sudden boots and bag.

What about you guys? Are you also loving the cape/cover up trend of the moment?

Yet another one of my outfits comprised entirely of current favorites! Love this Kooples suit for it's ability to go from day to night and pair with just about any shoe style imaginable from sneakers to sky-high heels. As with all Kooples pieces, it's impeccably tailored and so comfortable it's easy to forget you're wearing a suit! Love that! The other obsession du jour is the super fun Anya Hindmarch Smiley backpack I got while I was in Paris! Basically a perfect bag to wear with any casual outfit, I  also love the way it downplays ensembles when paired with dressier or tailored pieces! Oh, and the leather stickers... One word! OBSESSED!!!! I've gotten a few so far, but planning to expand my collection even more:) And by more, I mean of course I'm planning to get them all... Hopefully I don't run out of room on that backpack:)

My obsession with all things Isabel Marant started some time ago, and seems to be escalating with each passing year! This season in particular, I am completely and utterly in love with each and every piece from her fall/winter collection. From cozy knits and outwear to perfectly tailored bottoms and edgy accessories, I want it all! No exceptions:)! These amazing high-waisted button front shorts were my first splurge of the season. So good with a tucked-in blouse, yet equally relevant with a tailored knit or a cropped leather jacket. Hate to bring up the word versatility again, since I talk about it so much, but I feel I must since they go from day to night in such an effortless manner:) Hope you forgive me:)!
