PLAYING DRESS UP :: WHAT TO WEAR ON NEW YEAR'S EVE

Good morning, Everyone! Hope you are enjoying your weekend! I would like to start by announcing the winner of PANDORA International Giveaway. Congrats to Iuliana Rosu from Pink Wish,  I hope you love your PANDORA Holiday 2014 bracelet and charms as much as I do!

With December 31st just around the corner, I wanted to take this opportunity to present two looks I styled to wear on New Year's Eve. Why two, you ask? Well, if you read my blog on regular basis, you may have noticed my style varies from very feminine to slightly masculine, with a bit of an edge. Though these styles may belong to completely different sides of the scale, somehow both of them reflect different aspects of my personality and find a way to co-exist quite harmoniously and in some ways to even complement each other. Funny thing is that I never really know which of these two I'll be inclined to wear, sometimes I get up in the morning and can't wait to wear my girliest dress and other times, I am all about sharp tailoring and edgy accessories.

As I was thinking about what I'll be wearing for New Year's Eve, I came up with an idea to style two looks which reflect both sides of my personality. So, I hope you enjoy!

The first of two looks, appeals of course to my feminine side. As you may have noticed, I love a fabulous full-skirted dress, and this leather and tulle perfection is one of my current favorites! Though there are infinite possibilities of styling this dress, I really wanted to make it the focal point of this look, which is why I opted for a simple pair of black pumps and a matte satin clutch. Finishing touch, jewelry of course!:) Because no outfit, especially a Holiday one, can be complete without the appropriate jewelry. Take this one for example, a pair of sparkling leaves earrings ( another recent gift from Emil ), layered statement rings and my beloved PANDORA bracelets and charms, transform this outfit from basic to chic. In terms of layering, because this is such a dressy look, I really wasn't afraid to pile on the jewels! So, I went with a full arm party consisting of layered bracelets and rings in mixed metals as well as a pair of dangling earrings.

The second outfit, appeals more to my masculine side, the side that loves tailored pieces like blazers, trousers and apparently bow ties:) The idea to create this look came from my obsession with Marlene Dietrich, who famously made a tuxedo part of a woman's wardrobe. I've been dreaming about creating this look for ages, so when I came across this velvet tuxedo blazer, I knew the time has finally come:)! Once again, the main idea behind this outfit involved keeping the attention on the blazer and matching bow tie, which is why I decided to go with a pair of very simple black trousers and suede pumps. To continue with the masculine, slightly edgier vibe, I opted for a pair of PANDORA stud earrings, layered band-style rings ( an early Christmas present to myself ) and a few beaded bracelets and bangles with charms. Finally, to add just a touch of femininity, I added a pretty crystal and pearl clutch, which I think looks quite stunning with all the sparkling jewels.

So, what do you guys think? Which outfit do you like more?

Good morning, Everyone! How was your weekend?

To say that Emil and I are spontaneous when it comes to travel, would be an understatement. It's not that we don't like making plans in general, I think we are simply a little bit addicted to the feeling of not knowing what tomorrow might bring. Take New Year's Eve for example, traditionally we like to spend it somewhere special. Yet this year, our busy schedules sort of got the best of us and by the time we started thinking about possible destinations, all was sold out, fully booked and unavailable. I have to admit, I was a little disappointed, but eventually settled on the idea of spending New Year's Eve in LA. After all, a quiet dinner at home could be nice, right?

Well, I am sure it would be, except as I was making preparations for New Year's Eve dinner last night (thinking about the dinner menu, place settings and what to wear), Emil had one of his gloriously spontaneous moments and made alternative plans:) Here is the exact transcript of our conversation:

Emil: Ah,... how would you feel about spending New Years' Eve in Carmel?
Me: ???? Carmel? .....  Well, Carmel sounds nice!
Emil: Oh good, cause I already booked our trip, so pack your bags, we live at 6:00 am on Tuesday sharp! :)
Emil: Oh, and bring a hat, cause I think it might be kinda cold up there!

So, I guess we are spending New Year's in Carmel:) Not really sure if a hat will go well with an organza gown I got especially to wear on New Year's Eve, but I am sure I can re-think what I'll wear:)

Good morning, Everyone! Super excited to share the very first post of 2015 with you! :)

As I have previously mentioned Emil and I ended up spending New Year's Eve in Carmel, visiting one of our favorite places in the whole wide world - the Carmel Valley Ranch resort. We discovered it by accident last Summer while exploring Northern California and fell in love the moment we saw it. Extending all the way from Carmel-by-the-Sea to Santa Lucia mountains, the resort is located on one of the most beautiful acres we've ever seen and offers a variety of activities like hiking, biking, running trails, golf and tennis. And since hiking is one of our favorite things to do, we ended up hiking for pretty much 2 days straight, exploring the vineyards, the bee apiary and of course the stables. I say of course, because we both love horses, so we spent at least a few hours there making new friends:) Seriously, how adorable are those ponies and of course the baby goat! Apparently everyone favorite little trouble maker!:)

If you guys are planning to visit Carmel, I seriously recommend checking out the Carmel Valley Ranch. A few other favorites included the Charcuterie plate at the Lodge restaurant, and nightly s'mores by the fire pit, accompanied by fresh apple cider!

PINK AND PLUM

Good morning, Everyone! Hope you all had a wonderful Holiday!

I guess my black moment is coming to an end:) I can't say it's completely over but I am definitely feeling like wearing more color again all thanks to the wonderful pair of trousers I am sporting in today's post. I found them on my last trip to Zara, and just fell in love with the perfectly slouchy fit and of course the soft pink color. I actually have a bit of a weakness for this particular shade of pink. Soft and feminine, it works beautifully with a variety of colors ranging from deeper shades like burgundies and navies, to softer ones like grays, creams and blues. And of course you know how important versatility is to me:)

P.S. Not sure if it's the same for you guys, but for me, Zara sizes tend to be a bit unpredictable. Sometimes I have to go for a small and other times extra small seems to fit better. Take these pants for example, I tried them in both sizes but chose a small because I actually liked the slouchier fit. But I would definitely say that this particular pair tends to run a a bit big, and a small fits a lot more like a medium. So, keep that in mind if you decide to get them.

Good morning, Everyone! Hope you are all having a wonderful week!

I wanted to take this opportunity to share a few pics of one of my new favorite dresses, i.e. the gorgeous black and white number I am wearing in today's post. A big fan of the black and white color combination in general, from the moment I saw this dress, I feel in love with the cut and the color block pleated side inserts. A perfect combination of classic and sexy, this one is definitely one of those  twirl-worthy dresses I am always raving about :)

NEW YEAR - NEW HAIR

Good morning and happy almost weekend, Everyone! Hope you all had a great week!

As happy as I was with the way my hair was looking lately, I decided to start 2015 with a little bit of a change:) So, I went back to see Lucie Doughty, Paul Mitchell's Editorial Director, to discuss possible color changes and we decided to go for a soft ombre look. Since my hair just recently recovered from all the damage I've inflicted on it over the last Summer, rather than doing ombre on all the hair, we decided to lighten the ends on a few top sections. Lucie also suggested that instead of achieving this look in one step, we make it into a gradual process. So, I will go back in about 3 weeks to get the very ends even lighter. But I am super happy with the way it turned out and even though it's not a huge change, somehow my hair feels fresh and new!

What do you guys think?

Good morning, Everyone! Hope you are all having a wonderful weekend!

My newest shoe obsession arrived yesterday morning and from the moment I put them on, I knew it was a match made in shoe heaven! You know me, I am all about details and this pair certainly has them in abundance. Can't really decide what it is I love the most about them, the crystal embellished back, the asymmetric toe or the way the crystal accents shimmer against the deep black suede... Most likely it's the combination of all of the above, but whatever it is, I haven't been able to take them off. So, I suppose I should warn you right now, that there is a really good chance you'll be seeing quite a bit of them on this blog. Hope you don't mind:)

Good morning, Everyone! How was your weekend?

I wanted to take this opportunity to share a few pics of an amazing faux fur jacket I found on a recent trip to Zadig et Voltaire store in Malibu. I've been looking for a cute faux fur option for a while now, and from the moment I saw it, I knew I finally found the one. Warm, cozy and slightly oversized, I can't get over the gray-to-black ombre and of course the hood. Lucky for me, and I can't believe I am actually saying it, but there it is, the weather's been a bit chilly lately, which normally puts quite a bit of damper on my mood but not lately. I suppose this fuzzy wonder might have something to do with it:)! I guess it really is true what they say..."There is no bad weather, just bad clothing" :)

Good morning, Everyone! How is your week going so far?

When it comes to little black dresses, or in this case, little black and white dresses, I always look for just a tad of drama, like an interesting shape, fabric or cute detailing. So naturally, when I spotted this number from Maje, I just couldn't resist. A perfect combination of sweet and sexy, I just love the way the super short hemline is balanced out by the delicate chiffon top!

How about you guys, what do you look for in a  little black dress?

Good morning, Everyone! How is your weekend going so far?

Ok, so I'll be the first to admit that wearing sandals smack in the middle of winter is a bit insane! In fact, when I think about January appropriate footwear, sandals are pretty much the last thing that come to mind:) Yet, I find myself in this particular dilemma every year. That very familiar place where things I feel I should be wearing in Winter and things I actually can wear, given that it's about 80 degrees outside, don't exactly match. Sure, I've been trying to keep up the pretense that it's still Winter in LA by layering and wearing boots with pretty much everything, but as temperatures continue to soar, I am faced with the inevitable. Sandal weather is here:)

Not that I am complaining about this! I'll take all the warmth and sun I can get! Maybe I am not quite ready to give up on cozy coats, sweaters and boots just yet...

RUN AWAY WITH ME

Good morning, Everyone! Hope you all had a wonderful weekend!

Since I've been getting quite a few reader emails asking about my fitness routine, I decided to take this opportunity to talk to you a little bit about what it is that I normally do to stay in shape.

First and foremost, I prefer to exercise outside because when it comes to working out, scenery is very important to me. Looking at the same four walls at the gym makes my workouts feel like a chore, but being outdoors, always makes working out feel fresh and new.

Another thing that is very important to me is changing things up. Whether it's location, or my workouts, I constantly work on finding ways not to fall into the same routine. Aside from the obvious fitness benefits, I believe in the mind and body connection and so, I think feeling good during workouts is really the best way to maximize the results. What makes working out truly enjoyable for me? Well, definitely constantly trying new things, thinking outside the box ( after all, an hour long bike ride or ball room dancing are both great ways to keep in shape ) and incorporating a variety of different exercises within the same workout.

For example, today I started with a 20 minute run just to warm up. Quick little tip, make sure to control your breathing by taking slow, deep breaths. Shallow, rapid breath send your lungs into overdrive, so you can find yourself gasping for air and getting that side stitch during your run.

Next, I work on my core, arms and lower body by mixing a few favorite yoga and pilates moves. Another tip, core is extremely important for both yoga and pilates, so make sure to keep your abs flexed while performing the moves.

Normally, this portion of my workout takes about 30 minutes and varies from day to day. Sometimes, I concentrate on strengthening the muscles and other days I work on flexibility.

To cool down, I like to end my workouts with either a slower-paced 5 minute run or a walk to slow my heart rate and breathing gradually.

Lastly, and this is going to sound completely girly, but a cute workout outfit makes the world of difference:) I don't know about you guys, but when I have a new pair of runners or super cute leggings, like the ones from EXP CORE I am sporting in today's post, I cannot wait to take them out for a run! As you may have noticed, I absolutely love EXPRESS, so naturally I was very excited to try out their new activewear line. The particular running leggings and sports bra I am wearing in todays' post actually come in a variety of different colors, but since I have a soft spot for bright sportswear, I fell in love with this pretty turquoise blue and white print. What I also love about the new EXP CORE activewear is that it bends and flexes with you, without impairing movement and feels like you are wearing nothing at all.

What about you guys, how do you work on your fitness:)?

Good morning, Everyone! Hope your week is going great!

This is yet another one of my outfits comprised entirely of new and old favorites. Most you've met before, some more than others:) Yep, I'm talking about the Isabel Marant boots I've been wearing religiously. But honestly, I am obsessed!!! Not only do I love they way they look, they also happen to be really comfortable, which makes it even more difficult to wear anything else.

You've also seen this Kooples blazer on the blog before and in all honesty, will most likely continue seeing in the future:) As I have mentioned before, a black blazer is definitely a wardrobe staple for me. Aside from being guilty of loving blazers a little too much in general, I feel, a black one is a perfect way to add edge and polish to pretty much every look imaginable. This one made my all time favorite blazers list thanks to leather lapels and the coolest little chain detailing on the front pocket!

Lastly, I'd like to introduce you to my newest acquisition and obsession, the Proenza Schouler bucket bag. First, I really like the easiness of this particular shape. Somehow it feels fresh and new and also looks absolutely perfect with most casual looks. But I think the biggest reason I love this bag is the patchwork color blocking. Aside from the fact that it does a fantastic job of breaking up the monotony of my overwhelmingly black outfits, I can't get enough of this particular shade of burgundy paired with a slightly grayish cream. Though I got it just a week ago, I've been wearing it pretty much non stop! So, all things considered, I have a feeling it's going to be yet another one of those items which make appearance after appearance on this blog.

Good morning, Everyone! Hope you are all enjoying your weekend!

I wanted to say a quick hello and share a few pics Emil and I took in San Luis Obispo on the way back from San Simeon. As I have mentioned in the past, Emil and I love taking these mini driving trips along California coast line.

Since normally,  it takes about 4 - 5 hours to get to San Simeon and I am the biggest baby in the world and become pretty restless after spending even 2 hours in the car, we always make a few stops along the way. A coffee and a quick walk in Santa Barbara, lunch in San Luis Obispo ( an incredibly charming town, by the way ) not only breaks up the monotony of driving but also gives us a chance to explore a few wonderful coastal towns. For example, this time around, we spent a few hours walking around San Luis Obispo and I have to say, it's one of my new favorite places ever! So, if you ever decide to make this trip, I definitely recommend making a stop. Oh, and you have to check out Scout Coffee on Garden Street! Best coffee I ever had, hands down! :)

Good morning, Everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend!

Honestly, I can't believe it was cold and rainy just 2 weeks ago, but there you have, LA weather is that unpredictable and sometimes Summer begins in January:) Not that I am not happy about that! I love the warmth and the sunshine! Yet, I don't feel like I am quite ready to put away my Winter wardrobe just yet, but I suppose at some point in time it becomes increasingly difficult to ignore the the fact that it's 82 degrees outside and everyone is in shorts:)

Of course the bright side is that I get to break out my new Summer wardrobe favorites like the super cool vest I am wearing in today's post. I've been looking for a longer vest for some time now, and as soon as I spotted this one, I knew I found the one! Love the subtle pinstripes and the length, but it's the deconstructed panels in the front that make it the real stand out piece for me. Today, I paired it with a flare skirt and a crop top, but I think it would look just as good worn with jeans and a tank.

What do you guys think? How would you wear it?

Good morning, Everyone! How is your week going so far?

I wanted to take this opportunity to share a few images of what is possibly my most favorite piece of jewelry of all time, i.e. the out-of-this-world amazing DYLANLEX Falkor necklace

It arrived last week, and as soon as I got it, I started roaming through my closet trying to find something absolutely perfect to pair it with only to realize that it really didn't matter what I wore, the necklace made any outfit look spectacular! Chic, edgy and oh-so-very-modern, I still marvel at it's ability to transform a basic tee and jean look into something entirely sophisticated and polished! Oh, and how I love the way it pairs with crisp button downs and leather jackets, in fact, I have a feeling thanks to this marvel-of-a-necklace that'll be my new uniform from now on! Hope you guys don't mind:)

Good morning and happy almost weekend, Everyone! Whenever I get restless ( and with Fashion Week approaching fast, I've been getting restless quite a bit lately ), feel tired, uninspired or under the weather, Emil and I head straight to Santa Monica, get a cup of tea or coffee and just sit on the beach staring at the ocean. You know, they say there are three things you can look at forever, burning fire, water and starry sky... Well, staring at the ever-changing Pacific ocean tends to do the trick for me. VARSITY BLUES

Good morning, Everyone! How is your weekend going so far?

Emil and I have been fighting over this Sandro jacket ever since he got it a few weeks ago. Though normally, he is completely fine with me raiding his closet from time to time, this jacket just happens to be one of his favorites and he wears it non stop. Well... after weeks of nagging and begging, I was finally allowed to borrow it for a day! Of course, my long term plan is to make it a permanent part of my closet, but a day is a start:)

Why so obsessed you may ask? Well, aside from the fact that I love the combination of leather and wool in general, this one just happens to be a perfect example of that oversized slouchiness I so admire in varsity jackets:) Though I tried to achieve the same look by trying on bigger sizes in a few women's styles, they never looked quite right. Instead of slouchy, they just looked plain big:) Basically not cute at all!

So, now that I found exactly what I was looking for, hanging in Emil's closet nonetheless, I sincerely hope my long term plan works! Or at least maybe we can share on more regular basis:)!

Good morning, Everyone! Hope your week is going great so far!

Though by now, I am sure you are well aware of my weakness for leather jackets in general, this pastel blue biker number is one of my all time favorites. The combination of pastel leather with edgier details like zippers, quilting and buckles, makes this one a complete show stopper and my go-to leather topper for whenever the weather gets warmer!

I've worn it on countless occasions with anything from dresses and skirts to more casual pieces like jeans and shorts and it always manages to complete a look in the most amazing way. A perfect finishing touch to any ensemble, I have a feeling you'll be seeing quite a bit of it in the near future, now that the weather is warming up:) Hope you guys don't mind!

BLACK N' WHITE

Good morning, Everyone! Hope you're all having a wonderful week!

If you read my blog on regular basis, you probably know what a complete and total shoeaholic I am!  Though I love clothing, jewelry, bags and other accessories, my weakness for all of the above pales in comparison to my obsession with shoes! I can honestly say that I can shoe shop all day, every day! Seriously, not exaggerating one bit!:)

Having said that, not all shoes are created equal. Shopping for basics or necessities, if you will, doesn't usually get my juices flowing. Since for some inexplicable reason I have a flair for the dramatic when it comes to shoes, what gets me really excited is details, interesting shapes, colors and fabrics. To put it simply, anything but plain, please:)

Which brings me to the pair I am wearing in today's post. Abundant in details, I love the scalloped edge and the elegant heel! But honestly, it is the black and white pyramid print that makes them one of my absolutely favorite pairs ever! So, I hope you don't mind seeing a lot more of them in the future:)
