You can blame the nose ring on the Dylanlex necklace because something about it brings out my inner rocker chick... and suddenly, all I want to do is put on my studded leather jacket and boots, layer statement jewelry and wear septum rings :)

It's official, I finally found a pair of comfortable platform sandals! It was last Friday, and I was having one of those magical days when everything seems to go your way. As I was mentally going through my Summer must-have yet still don't have in my closet list while lazily browsing a few of my favorite online shopping places, I stumbled across these babies! Now, if you read my blog on regular basis, you know that every year when I talk about Summer must-haves, white sandals make an appearance right at the top of that list! Aside from the fact that they go with everything, something about buying a pair of white sandals signals the begging of Summer and more importantly the end of Winter, the cold and my personal favorite, the gloom:)

Of course the reason I am obsessed with this particular pair of white sandals is the platform! Personally, I think it adds a certain chic element to an otherwise very casual ( and very comfortable might I add ) style. I fully intend to wear them with everything this Summer, from jeans and shorts to dresses and skirts! So, I hope you don't mind seeing them regularly:)

JET SET 6 WITH MICHAEL KORS

As I have mentioned before, I am not exactly a light packer. Yes, I 've been getting a bit better lately, yet I still suffer from wardrobe separation anxiety and tend to bring way more than I actually need. Way to many clothes, beauty products, hair styling tools and most importantly, shoes. You see, a lot of my outfits begin with the right shoe. Usually, the right shoe depends on occasion. Sometimes, it's a cute slouchy boot kind of a day and other times, if I happen to feel particularly girly and have a fabulous party to go to, it's the sky-high heel or wedge kind of a day. Hence is my problem! Since my schedule gets a bit crazy and at times unpredictable, I tend to bring nearly everything and unfortunately for me, everything takes a lot of space. I admit, not the most rational way of doing things, but I haven't really found a solution, that is I haven't found one until now!

I am sure you know what a huge Michael Kors fan I am, and can imagine my excitement when I was given the opportunity to bring Michael Kors Jet Set 6 Collection on a recent trip along the West Coast with me. What is the Jet Set 6 Collection you ask? Well, it's 6 spectacular pairs of shoes which fit perfectly into every adventure imaginable whether it's a day at the beach, sightseeing and shopping, or elegant dinner or cocktails. The six pairs come in the cutest travel bag, so packing is literally a breeze!

By the way, in regards to out trip. If you haven't taken a trip along California's West Cost, you definitely should! The scenery is absolutely breathtaking, and I can tell you with absolute certainty, it's going to be one of those adventures you will never forget. Emil and I certainly never will, which is why I decided to take this opportunity to share a few favorite moments and outfits with you:)

First Look: Taking advantage of the sunny weather by lounging and wine tasting by the pool. I wanted to create a casual yet polished look, so I paired simple sweater and shorts with the Somerly leather espadrille wedge for an instant dose of sophistication.

Second Look: Exploring the vineries, comfy and casual in white jeans, denim jacket and Irving leather sneaker.

Third Look: I could spend the rest of my life sipping my morning coffee on this cute swing at Carmel Valley Ranch. Wearing my favorite off-duty uniform, skinny jeans, cozy sweater and chic and casual Walton ankle boots.

Fourth Look: Enjoying one of the most beautiful sunsets in Big Sur... We spent most of the day exploring and walking around, so I wanted to wear something cute yet comfortable, which is why I paired my denim cut-offs and crochet jacket and top with Walton ankle boots.

Fifth Look: A day at the beach in San Simeon. We really got so lucky with the weather. San Simeon especially can get pretty cool this time a year. But I guess we got lucky, because it was warm and sunny the entire time we were there. Naturally,  we had to take adventure of the sunny weather by spending most of the day on the beach. This is probably one of my favorite looks, love the way this navy smock dress paired with gold jelly sandals

DETAIL ORIENTED

I guess you can call me detail oriented because I firmly believe accessories make or break an outfit and transform the look and feel of an outfit like nothing else. Take today's dress for example, or cover up if you will,  ( though I honestly think it works as a dress just as well ). Paired with cute flip-flops and a beach tote, it is a perfect day-at-the-beach option, of course I wanted to wear it in the city. So, to dress it up a bit, I opted for a pair of high-heel ankle-wrap sandals, a cute cross-body and lots and lots of layered jewelry.

Since no one was pointing fingers and asking why I was wearing a beach cover up in the middle of the city, I'd say my mission to transform it into a dress was quite successful :) What do you guys think?

Logic behind this look: a bit of blue is good but a lot is even better. In fact, I think it's pretty safe to say that no amount of blue is too much in my book, seeing how blue and I have a very special relationship. Of course by special relationship I mean that I am completely and utterly obsessed and could probably wear blue every day for the rest of my life and be perfectly content... So, I suppose you could say that this outfit it basically me living my dream, just me and lots and lots of blue:)

PERFECT GETAWAY :: RANCHO VALENCIA

I said it before and I'll say it again, even a few days away from the madness make a world of difference. If you follow me on INSTAGRAM, you may have noticed, Emil and I spent a few very relaxing days at Rancho Valencia recently, doing what we love best, i.e. working on our tans, dining and exploring. Though this was our first time staying there, it will definitely be one of many to come for even now, as I am writing this post, I find myself panning our next visit, though perhaps for a slightly longer period next time, so that we can truly explore all the wonderful things Rancho Valencia has to offer.

So, if you are planing to visit, here are a few suggestions:

WHAT TO DO: Taking a yoga class at the Serenity Yoga Pavillon was truly amazing. Fact that my class took place outside at sunset, on a platform literally floating on water, made this one of my most memorable moments ever, not to mention the best yoga session I've ever had!

Nourishing Citrus Drench at the Spa was a truly indulging experience. I arrived at the spa feeling a bit tired and sluggish ( direct result of staying up way past my bedtime, catching up on some work the night before ) and walked out feeling rested and elated, with silky smooth citrus-scented skin.

Playing a game of croquet: do a know how to play croquet? Absolutely not, but that hasn't stopped me before and most definitely didn't this time around! In fact, I think messing up was the major part of the fun.

WHAT TO EAT: If you are as obsessed with cheese boards as I am, than you will definitely appreciate artisanal cheese board at Rancho Valencia's Veladora! Paired with a nice glass of wine, it was a perfect finishing touch after every meal.

Lobster tacos are always good, but great lobster tacos are even better, and lobster tacos at The Pony Room were just that! Absolutely great!

By the way, if you have any tips on what to do/see at Rancho Valencia, please share them in the comments!

EXPRESS 2 Inch High Waisted Destroyed denim shorts

For me, dressing up has always been a big reason why I love festival season so much. Though most of the time, cute and fun is what I aim for when I style my festival looks, as of lately, practicality and wearability also started to gain momentum. So, say studded fringed leather pants sound good in theory yet in reality, stretchy leather and blazing desert heat don't mix very well ( and yes, I did actually make this mistake ). And so, through a long process of trial and error, I've come up with a few festival favorites sure to keep you looking cute yet comfy no matter how hot the weather gets!

DENIM SHORTS: Always cute, always comfy, denim shorts look good with just about anything from bikini tops to flowy blouses. The high waisted pair from EXPRESS I am wearing in today's  post is a current favorite. First, I've always been obsessed with destroyed denim and this pair has just the right amount of distressing and second, I am really loving the high-waisted shorts cropped top look at the moment, and these just happen to look absolutely phenomenal with all of my crop tops.

FLOWY BLOUSE: A cute flowy top keeps you nice and cool in the desert heat! The cold shoulder top from Express I am wearing today is yet another favorite because well, I am more than a bit partial to shoulder cut-outs and secondly because it's so lighwaight it feels like you're wearing nothing at all.

ACCESSORRIES: Sure, I've always believed accessories complete an outfit. But in this case a hat is not only a cute finishing touch but also a very practical addition to a look, especially if you hope to keep your hair from drying out in the blazing sun:) Seriously, I don't know what it is about Palm Springs but after a few days there my hair starts resembling a heap of straw, yet thanks hats, I was actually able to maintain a somewhat decent looking mane on our last few visit there.

What about you guys, what are your festival staples/favorites?

To say I was a little reluctant to get on board with sneakers with everything look was to say nothing at all. Perhaps I am a bit old-fashioned, but the notion of sneakers as casual footwear, not suitable for dressier ensembles has been firmly planted in my mind. And so, I continued to pair my dresses and tailored pieces with heels, oxfords and gladiators, basically anything but sneakers. Little did I know but everything I believed in when it came to appropriate footwear was about to change thanks to a particularly crazy busy day:)

I was running late, so late, I didn't even care about the fact that my hair was a mess and I had no make up on. I grabbed the first dress I could find in my closet and put on a pair of sneakers mainly because they were sitting right by my front door. The whole day was a blur, spent running around from place to place. Yet by the end of the day, the one thing I did remember was not feeling like my feet were on fire! This was a very welcome change indeed! And so, next morning I did it again, I paired a tailored suit with a pair of sneakers and reveled in the feeling of this new found comfort.

Now, I've become a complete and total sneaker addict! It's not that I am ready so say au revoir to high heels forever, but I definitely reach for a pair of sneakers every chance I get:)

You know my motto when it comes to jewelry, the more the merrier! I can't help it, I am borderline obsessed with armparties. Usually, I start with a bracelet or two and maybe a ring and keep piling on until it feels like I can't add anymore:) My hubby even coined a term for this, he jokingly calls it my "like you robbed a jewelry store" look. Normally, I just smirk and roll my eyes when he says this, but from time to time, when I for some reason feel the need to justify my style-related decisions, I try to explain that layering jewelry is a girl thing, and that's the way it looks best:) He responds by nodding and pretending to agree with me, though secretly I suspect he actually does, but just enjoys making fun of me. Evidence to support my suspicions? Well, it's plain as day... layering is the only way to wear jewelry! Right?:)

Have you ever had a feeling like something was meant just for you? Well, that's exactly how I felt when this suitfromVia Delle Perle came into my life. I mean, come on! It's cobalt, it's a suit and it's a suit with shorts. So far, three out of three! But it doesn't stop there! You see, lately I've developed a soft spot for something I like to call midi shorts. Midi shorts are definitely longer than Coachella-style barely there mini shorts but not quite as long as Culottes. Basically a happy medium and a perfect option for pretty much any occasion! Having realized the full potential of midi shorts, I suddenly felt a void since none yet found their way into my closet! To fill the void, the scoured the web in hopes of finding a perfect pair, but instead found a perfect suit! Honestly, I wish all of my searches were this fruitful!

To be in Palm Springs any day of the year, for any purpose whatsoever is great but to be in Palm Springs for Festival Season, well...  now that's even better! Every year I wait for Festival Season like a kid waiting for Christmas and once it arrives, it never disappoints! It's always wonderful! Absolutely all of it! The music, the parties, the weather and of course my personal favorite, the fashion! For me, dressing up for the Festival is at least 50 percent of the fun! Ok, probably more like 60, if I was being completely honest, but I pretty sure you already knew that if you follow my blog on regular basis:) And if you didn't, see evidence here.

This year, one of my favorite Festival looks is this black and white Missguided ensemble I am completely in love with, featuring a particularly cute striped dungaree. First and foremost, I am obsessed with dungaree rompers and this striped black and white marvel is one of my absolute favorites! Why? Well, not all rompers are created equal, and I won't say most, but definitely some look a bit weird on me. This one, however, happens to pack just enough stretch to hug the body in all the right places:) Fact that it's also cute and comfy, and looks pretty perfect paired with a black crop top, makes it the best one I've ever owned and the one I will never be separated from. Ever!:)

I think I've developed a new obsession... obsession with off-the-shoulder dresses that is. My preoccupation with dresses in general is nothing new, you know me, I love a good flirty frock but thanks to this season's emphasis on exposed shoulder, this preoccupation reached a whole new level. Seriously, the way I feel now, I could easily wear off-the-shoulder dresses everyday for the rest of the summer and be quite happy about that. Of course based on the number of of-the-shoulder dresses which are now part of my closet, the possibility of this actually happening is very, very real :)

Surfing in Malibu, Girl, Surfboard, Wetsuit

I can't count how many times I promised myself this was going to be the summer when I finally take surfing lessons... I even went as far as purchasing a wet suit, yet somehow summers went by and I never made good on my promise. Well, last week it all changed! Last week I decided it was going to be now or never! And... I finally did it!

Though I imagined many times what surfing would be like, I don't think I ever realized just how challenging it really is! Yes, call me naive but I thought that years of swimming and yoga should at least give me some edge! Well, let me tell you, I was wrong! Very, very wrong! Forget riding the wave, or even just standing up on the board, after my 3rd lesson, I more or less mastered paddling out, but that was pretty much my only achievement:) Well, that and really sore arms! Can we count that as an achievement?

But I am not giving up! My fourth lesson is scheduled for next week and I am adamant about at least standing up on the board by the end of it! Overreaching? Perhaps, but I am an eternal optimist at heart!

Shower on the beach, Santa Monica Shower, Outside Shower

NEW Dove go fresh Revitalize Body Wash, NEW Dove go fresh Revitalize Beauty Bar
What I was a little less optimistic about was the condition of my skin after spending hours in the salt water. Even after the first lesson, the skin on my face, arms and legs, and especially elbows and knees was so dry, I seriously wanted to cry. To make matters even worse, my usual lotions and potions didn't help much, which send me into a state of complete and utter panic!

But of course the state of panic didn't last long! You know me, I am a problem solver. If there is a problem I'll find a solution, and find a solution I did! While I use different lotions to remedy dry skin, I never really considered that I could actually start my skincare routine right in the shower! I now love to use the NEW Dove go fresh Revitalize Body Wash and Beauty Bar right after my surfing lessons. These new cleansers are mild, help replenish my skin and my face is now starting to look human again:) Another reason why I like the NEW Dove go fresh Revitalize products is because not only do they provide the perfect combination of freshness and care but also because I am a bit obsessed with the scent! The combination of mandarin and tiare flower is absolutely amazing and leaves your skin refreshed and renewed! And sure bringing a big bottle of body wash to the beach may not be ideal, but you know what, the payoff is definitely worth it! The way I see it, I would bring a canister if it guaranteed I didn't have to deal with dry skin:)!

Anyway, I hope you enjoyed this story and I will keep you posted on my surfing progress!

This post was created in partnership with Dove. I have been compensated for my participation, but all thoughts and opinions are my own.

If you read my blog on regular basis, you know skincare is a bit of an obsession for me. Normally, I am very good about taking care of my skin. I eat well, I exercise, I try to get plenty of sleep and use good skincare products. Yet, no matter how diligent I am about taking care of my skin,  the damaging effects of certain environmental assaults such as sun exposure, pollution and stress are simply beyond my control.

Elizabeth Arden PREVAGE® Anti-aging Daily Serum

Elizabeth Arden PREVAGE® Anti-aging Moisture Lotion Broad Spectrum Sunscreen SPF 30

VivaLuxury skincare, Annabelle Fleur skincare

Take my recent trip to Palm Springs for example. Though I certainly tried to hide my face from the blazing desert sun under hats and massive amounts of sunblock, the result of spending hours in the sun was nonetheless quite obvious and damaging.

As I was staring at yet another freckle, i.e. sun spot in the mirror, I received an email from Elizabeth Arden about the PREVAGE® skincare line designed specifically to prevent damaging effects of environmental assaults, and to help support the skin’s natural repair process. Naturally, I jumped at the chance to personally test the line!

The PREVAGE® set arrived on the day of my friend's wedding, just as I was leaving for the Bel Air hotel, our home away from home for the duration of her pre and post wedding festivities. Since my face hasn't exactly recovered from all the abuse I put it through in Palm Springs, I decided there was no time like the present to deal with the damage.

I started by cleaning my face with PREVAGE® Anti-aging treatment boosting cleanser. Next, I massaged PREVAGE® Anti-aging Daily Serum onto freshly cleansed face, and followed with PREVAGE® Anti-aging eye serum, by gently patting a small amount around the eye area.  I finished by lightly brushing PREVAGE® Anti-aging Moisture Lotion Broad Spectrum Sunscreen SPF 30 across the face.

STRATHBERRY OF SCOTLAND Mc Nano powder blue bag

Though, I certainly didn't expect to see results right away, I have to admit that my face did look smoother and brighter right after application. In fact, even though I was expecting to go a bit heavier on the make up that day, I was actually able to skip eye concealer completely. A very good thing considering I am not a huge fan of heavy make up and eye concealer in general:)

Overall, though I just started using the PREVAGE® line, I am very impressed with the results so far. I am noticing a lot of improvement in the texture and clarity of my skin. It's definitely much more even looking and the redness around my nose is slowly disappearing. YAY! I am planning to continue using the line and keeping you guys posted on my progress!

IRO Ashville leather jacket in coral pink, Coral leather jacket

I've been a busy little bee these past few weeks working on expanding my collection of old and new favorites and this outfit is basically an accumulation of my efforts. I don't think I need to tell you how I feel about leather jackets. Studded, perforated, printed and brightly colored, I want them all! And this coral perfection from IRO is my newest and brightest favorite:) The color alone would have been enough to make me want to add it to my collection, but the fact that I am particularly partial to moto leather jackets, made it that much more irresistible!

Flared jeans are my new obsession. After wearing skinnies for years and years, this style feels new and fresh not to mention the fact that it pairs beautifully with pretty much anything from crop tops to leather jackets. My only concern when it comes to flared jeans is the length. As I have mentioned before, given the fact that I am 5.8 and have a soft spot for high heels, finding the right length is not always easy. I found a few styles that are super long ( you can click here to check out the story ) and I am happy to say that this pair from Hudson is yet another addition to the list. Aside from the length, what I really love about them is the wash and of course the two front pockets. Yep, I am still obsessing over details:)!

NANETTE LEPORE Blown Away dress

The first time I met this dress was a little less than a year ago at Nanette Lepore runway show during New York Fashion Week. I spotted it as it was floating down the runway and immediately knew we were destined to be together. I am, as you may know, particularly fond of pieces that evoke a certain feeling and something about this dress just oozed happiness.

Well, fast forward a few months and we are finally together! It is, just as I imagined, one of those pieces you simply cannot have a bad day in. So far, I've worn it twice and each one of them involved a ridiculous amount of skipping, twirling and dancing. What can I say, put me in a bright yellow dress, which also just happens to have those oversized front pockets I am so fond of, and I simply cannot resist the urge to engage in completely child-like behavior!:)

CAPULET Spanish Shoulderless mini dress

As you may have noticed I've been on a bit of a dress binge lately and the pretty shoulderless number I'm sporting in today's post is my latest find. Though my obsession with dresses ( few other favorites here& here ) is nothing new, what I have been doing differently lately is pairing feminine, flirty frocks with chunkier heels for a slightly more modern, not to mention much more comfortable feel and look. Take the studded perfection from Laurence Dacade I am wearing in today's post for example, comfortable enough to wear all day long, I just love the way they add a certain ease and edge to the whole ensemble! Not to mention the fact that unlike a pair of stilettos ( which I think would have looked great for night), they definitely make this look more appropriate for day.

What do you guys think? How do you feel about chunky heels?

If I had to choose one blazer, one shirt and one pair of skinnies to wear for the rest of my life, the ones I'm wearing in today's post would be it! Incidentally, the way they found their way into my closet  is a direct result of my new shopping philosophy. You see, about two weeks ago, I decided that it was time to shape up my wardrobe, so I rid my closet of all the maybes, put a stop to impulse purchases, which rarely work out for me, and decided to approach new purchases with caution and serious consideration. Now, what I mean by caution and consideration is the following:

House of Harlow sunglasses

After cleaning my closet, I have noticed that I am particularly guilty of buying things that I like and not necessarily the ones I need. Though there is absolutely nothing wrong with buying something you like in itself, when you end up with copious amount of shoes in all imaginable colors yet don't have a solid pair of black heels to wear with everything, you know you have a problem. And I certainly have a problem because when I find something I like, all reason goes out the window, and all I hear myself thinking is "cute" and "need", so I justify my impulse purchases by assuring myself I will find some way to incorporate them into my closet, even though I have nothing to wear them with right now. Needless to say, this rarely works, so I end up with a tone of things I don't wear and not enough basics and necessities. Well, no more! From now on, I am making lists of all the things I need and buying strictly what's on the list! It's a work in progress, but so far it's been working out!

I am happy to say, I was even able to restrain myself from snatching a particularly gorgeous pair of turquoise heels, though I have to admit, the decision has been weighing on my mind heavily. Must find a way to stay strong... !
