At this point, it is no secret how much Emil and I love road trips, and going up the California coast to Carmel, San Francisco, and Napa Valley has to be one of our all-time favorite. Sometime a few weekends ago, we started talking about how impossibly hot Los Angeles weather has been, which led us to a realization that we have not visited Northern California in quite some time! We especially neglected Napa Valley, and we totally love that place. The weather is always cooler there, so when it’s blazing hot in Los Angeles, San Fran area is just perfect!
Our first stop was Napa Valley. We stayed at our absolute favorite – Auberge du Soleil on the east side of Napa Valley. Everything from the hotel grounds, to our room, to dining, and especially the pool area is absolutely incredible! This enormous property is located on slopes of a hill yielding to gorgeous views all around and from every angle. It’s so serene and beautiful, I loved just sitting down with a glass of wine and taking it all in. Peaceful and quiet, it makes you reconnect with nature and decompress from the insanely busy life that I happen to lead.
We started our first day there with a breakfast in bed. It’s become a bit of a tradition at this point, I guess something about starting your day with hot coffee, delicious croissants (which are my complete weakness), and fresh fruit, sets the mood for the rest of the day like nothing else. I love the vibe of Napa – it’s so relaxing, no one is rushing anywhere: just peace, quiet, and beautiful wineries all around! Basically a paradise in every way!
I have quite a few more posts coming sharing our experiences on this road trip, but Auberge du Soleil in Napa Valley was definitely one of the highlights. We can’t wait to go back!
