I love satin midi skirts because they are so versatile. Though they may feel very dressy at first glance, in reality you can dress them up or down depending on occasion, and today, I’m talking about my favorite ways (both dressy and casual) of wearing this style of skirt.
First way – definitely the dressiest, consists of satin midi skirt, a structured blazer and statement heels. Typically, I opt for this look when I have a work function that requires a more polished look, or when I don’t feel like wearing a dress for cocktail hour. Though midi skirts and crop tops are a trend this season, you can easily swap a crop top for a body suit for example, just make sure whatever you are wearing underneath is form-fitting. A form-fitting top helps to balance out the volume of the jacket and skirt.
Second way – probably the most casual, consists of a satin midi skirt, a button-down cardigan and cool slides. Cardigans have a rather relaxed, nonchalant appeal about them and when you pair them with a dressy item like a satin midi skirt, they inject a bit of that relaxed, cool feeling into the look. Flats complete this pairing perfectly. Though you could definitely opt for sneakers, I prefer something a bit more polish to enhance the relaxed-elegance vibe of this look.
The third way is perfect for a date-night or cocktail hour, and consists of satin midi skirt, a body suit and sleek heels. Personally, I think it’s most striking when you go for a black and white color combo, and keep your accents sleek and simple. Though it’s certainly a dressy look, there is something very effortless about it which is perhaps why it never looks out of place and works for so many different occasions.
